Weirdly Human Worlds, Made with Weirdly Human Words.
I write grimey little TV stories, etched with the humor that comes with being a perpetual shit-magnet.

About Me
Subtext is everything.
Catie McHugh is an Australian comedy writer and tech communications strategist who has spent the last eight years translating the high-stakes paranoia of cybersecurity into something resembling human speech. This daily immersion in corporate absurdity serves as the primary engine for her scripted work: grounded, cheeky, and unapologetically crass.
With a Bachelor of Media (Screenwriting) from Macquarie University and a "just enough to be dangerous" cybersecurity certification, Catie specializes in characters who, much like herself, are kind but definitely not "nice." Her work focuses on pushing boundaries through the lens of the bizarre, real-world situations that tend to follow her around. In 2026, she was selected by Australians in Film to join a US TV writer's room, under the guidance of showrunner Sam Laybourne. It was one of the great honors of her life.
